  7. The WinPort products are a line of GUI cross-development tools based on the
  8. industry-standard Microsoft Windows API. By providing equivalent libraries for
  9. the native Windows API functions, the WinPort tools enable developers to easily
  10. port their Windows applications to MS-DOS, OS/2, UNIX, X/Motif and other
  11. environments. In most cases, only a simple recompilation is required

  13. The WinPort tools are source-code-compatible with the Microsoft Windows API and
  14. support such powerful features as windows, menus, dialog boxes, GDI painting,
  15. messages, timers, hypertext help and resources. Applications ported using the
  16. WinPort tools retain the native look-and-feel of their target environments

  18. The WinPort line consists of WINDOWS.X, which converts Microsoft Windows
  19. applications to X/Motif and WINDOWS.TXT, which converts Microsoft Windows
  20. applications to character-mode for MS-DOS, OS/2, or UNIX. Both tools come
  21. complete with licensed Microsoft Windows SDK components, C libraries, a
  22. resource compiler, a compatibility checker and the Microsoft Windows Guide to
  23. Programming and Programmer's Reference.
